It wasn't easy to make the English version for this Site, mostly because of the subject we're dealing with. There are some words I just couldn't translate, as for example: "Goliardia" or "Goliardi". That's why I finally decided to leave them as they were. I'll simply try to explain their meaning now, so when you'll find them on your path, you'll more or less understand what we're talking about. The word "Goliardia" expresses a tradition that begins in Medieval times, with the roaming of men belonging to the Clergy in various cities, where teachers kept their lessons. This is even before the founding of Universities. It also expresses a sort of society, that keeps high principles as culture, intelligence, amusement, satire, freedom of speech and freedom of thought, unselfishness, generosity, idealism, nonconformism and many more. It is a way of living and intending life. It worships Bacchus, Venus and the God of Tobacco. It's expression of youth and light-heartedness. You must be a University student to be part of it, but once you are, you will be so for the rest of your life. The word "Goliardi" stands for the members of this wonderful thing that is "Goliardia".
I hope to have helped you, with my words, to understand us a little better. There's much more to say then just this, but a 100 pages wouldn't be enough! So, just relax and have fun! Visit our Site and leave a message on our Forum, and if you don't understand something, just e-mail us, we'll do our best to satisfy your requests.
